Verella is made by one person. Email reaches that person, and there is no ticket queue in front of them.

If you are reporting something that went wrong with a scan, the barcode is the single most useful thing you can include.
Common questions
Does Verella cost anything?
No. Every scoring feature, including your conditions, your diet patterns and your allergens, runs for everyone. There is no subscription and nothing to buy inside the app. Ads pay for it.
Why does it need my height, weight and age?
To work out what a day's worth of sugar, sodium, saturated fat and protein actually is for you. Without that, the only option is to score every product against a generic adult, which is the thing Verella exists to stop doing.
Is my health information used to choose the ads?
No. Ads are non-personalised. No health data, no allergens and nothing about the products you scan is sent in an ad request, the app never asks for tracking permission, and it never touches the advertising identifier.
A product came back as insufficient data. Why?
The open database behind Verella did not have enough of the nutrition panel for that barcode. Verella says so rather than guessing. You can add the missing data to Open Food Facts yourself, and every app using it benefits.
Can I delete my account and everything in it?
Yes, from inside the app, in Profile. It removes your account and your data.
Is Verella medical advice?
No. It gives general nutrition information built from published guidance. It is not a substitute for a doctor or a registered dietitian, and it cannot know your disease activity, your medication or anything your care team has already told you.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Verella is iPhone only, on iOS 16.4 or later. There is a notify list on the home page for when that changes.
Think a rule is wrong?
Say so. Every rule Verella applies is published, which is partly so that someone who knows more than the engine does can tell us where it is off. Dietitians, clinicians and people who have lived with a condition for twenty years all see things a threshold does not.
- The condition rules, with the source behind each one.
- The ingredient watchlist, with the decision behind each flag.
Email the same address. Tell us which rule, and what the guidance you are working from actually says.
